Template for legal review

This document is a template prepared for Stream Events Jamaica Ltd. It must be reviewed and approved by the company's legal counsel before AYawd launches. It is not legal advice, and details in square brackets still need to be completed.

The short version

  • Chat is the crowd. Bring the vibes and respect everyone in the place.
  • No hate, harassment, threats or sharing anybody’s private details.
  • No spam, scams or links. Links are blocked in chat.
  • Moderators can delete messages, time people out and ban them. You can appeal.

The vibe

Live chat is the crowd at every AYawd show: people from Kingston to Toronto, London to Port of Spain, all at the same dance. Hype the artists, big up the selectors, talk about the music. Patois, slang and every Caribbean accent are welcome here. These guidelines apply in chat, on your profile and anywhere else you post on AYawd.

Respect everyone

  • Treat other patrons, artists and moderators the way you would want to be treated at a real show.
  • Disagree with opinions, not people. Debate is fine; abuse is not.
  • Criticise a performance if you like, but do not attack the artist as a person.

No hate or harassment

We remove, and may ban accounts for:

  • slurs, insults or attacks based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or health;
  • threats of violence, or encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others;
  • targeting, stalking or repeatedly messaging someone who does not want it;
  • sharing someone's private information, such as their address, phone number or photos, without their permission;
  • unwanted sexual comments; and
  • any content that sexualises children. We have zero tolerance for it and report it to the authorities.
  • Links are blocked in chat, so do not try to get around the block with spaces or codes.
  • No flooding, repeating the same message, all-caps walls or posting just to fill the screen.
  • No selling, advertising, promo codes from other services, fake giveaways or "send me money" requests.
  • Do not pretend to be an artist, a moderator or AYawd staff.

Protect the shows

Do not share recordings, restream links or account logins, and do not ask others for them. Paid streams are watermarked with each patron's name, so leaks can be traced. See the Copyright policy.

Do not post anything illegal, promote illegal goods or services, or encourage dangerous behaviour.

Room settings

Each show's chat can have its own settings. Moderators may turn on slow mode (a wait between messages), followers only (for people who have followed the channel for a while), members only (for certain plans) or emote only mode. Chat can also be switched off for a show. These settings apply to everyone in the room.

What moderators can do

Moderators are AYawd staff and trusted helpers. To keep chat safe they can:

  • delete messages, or hold messages for review before they appear;
  • time you out, which stops you chatting for anything from a few seconds up to 14 days;
  • ban you from one channel's chat or from chat across AYawd;
  • pin messages, post announcements and block words or phrases; and
  • for serious or repeated breaches, suspend or close your account under the Terms of use.

We consider context, but serious breaches such as threats, hate speech or content involving children can lead to an immediate ban.

Reporting

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, open the message menu and choose Report. Reports are private: the person you report is not told who reported them. Please do not report people just because you disagree with them; false reports can also break these guidelines.

Appeals

If you think a moderation decision was wrong, email support@ayawd.com within 30 days with the subject "Chat appeal". Include your username, the show or channel, roughly when it happened and why you think the decision should change. A different moderator will review it and we aim to reply within [7] days. We will lift the action if we got it wrong.
